Character
Character Name: Duo Maxwell
Series: Gundam Wing
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point: 16, Post series but Pre-Endless Waltz
Requested Sponsor: Ruby
Entry position Cadet

History: Wiki-link it is!
Abilities & Physical Abnormalities:
He's a gifted pilot and driver, a well trained mechanic, and good with firearms. He's not overly strong at hand to hand combat, but he's okay with knives to a certain degree. For someone who couldn't have had much training on the subject, he's also damn good with computers and communication as a whole. Need something bugged? Duo's totally your guy. This is admittedly at least a little bit fanon, but he's also pretty good with explosives to a certain degree as well. He likes making things go boom, what can I say?

Personality:
At a casual glance Duo seems to be a very back "good ol' boy" type despite (or maybe because of) his sometimes rather sarcastic attitude. He tends to be overly talkative and boisterous which sets him apart from most of the other people in his rather awkward career field of Gundam Pilot. Not that this bothers him as he's quite happy breaking all the conventional molds, because really what were they but ideas that'd keep a guy down?

On the surface, he's the sort of guy you'd expect to be fairly popular in high school partially thanks to his unconventional air. He's got a good personality for it as he's not the sort to be socially awkward which works wonders when combined with his outgoing attitude in addition to that aforementioned 'good old boy' charm. They combine together to make a rather compelling mixture for thee most par. That said, he's not your stereotypical popular guy in teenage dramas as he's not the sort to be a bully despite his wicked sense of humor and love of a good joke or prank. Largely it's because Duo isn't the sort of guy who'd pay attention to silly things like conventional social groups - instead he's more likely to be making friends in every social circle known to man.

Do be careful though or he'll fool you into believing that he's only just that one part: a good old boy who'd never harm anybody. Which, given his true career is obviously far from the case as harming people is kind of part and parcel with the whole war thing. Anyways, beneath his cheerful and charming exterior exists two things - the steadfast soldier and the emotionally scarred young man. People who only know Duo on the surface sometimes probably wonder if there's much he's serious about. The part of him that's shouldered his responsibilities as a soldier really does understand that life is serious and that the battlefield is not a game. Sure he typically pilots with a smile and he genuinely enjoys piloting, but the fact that the battlefield is life and death certainly has never escaped his notice. Down in the center we have an emotionally scarred young man and it's understandable really. Orphaned by war at a young age, the first time he felt he belonged anywhere was taken from him by disease. Then, thanks to war again, his second try for a family is brutally killed. Things like that, they leave an impression on anyone and Duo is no exception. It's this part of him, I feel, that allows him to be friendly (or even friends) with people while still keeping them at a distance. After all everyone's going to leave him eventually might as well be prepared for that from the start, right? At his heart there's a bitterness and a causticness that's otherwise typically smoothed and honeyed out by his charming and friendly manner.

It should be noted that despite his darker side and his fairly bleak job he's not the sort who would hurt innocent people or civilians. That doesn't mean that he won't take action if there's someone he feels genuinely deserves it - no matter what their allegiance might be. As far as why he fights though, he's got several reasons. I think there's a part of him deep down genuinely that just wants to make the people who killed his family pay and at the same time I feel he's also fighting for freedom and a better tomorrow.

Duo's also not entirely above cheating, stealing, or otherwise to get by in life. He'll never out and out lie which might be hard to believe at first considering, but it's the truth and a credo that he lives by. He does; however, sometimes omit parts of the truth or twist it in such a way that people might conveniently get the wrong idea. Is it lying? I'd say probably so, but not everyone really thinks about it the same way. Duo obviously is one of them.

The fact that he partially grew up in a Catholic church it doesn't seem to have any real his religious beliefs. If pressed the only god he believes in is the god of death. Which might have been alarming if that wasn't himself, though on second thought perhaps the fact that he refers to himself as the god of Death is a reason to be alarmed as it is.

What are your plans for the character in-game? Cause more mayhem. Reconnect with old CR and just generally be a nuisance around Garden.

Anything else? He'll come in with all his old memories of his time in game since this is jut a re-app. He'll be super surprised that so much time has passed when he'd only been back in his own world for a under an hour.

IC
Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.

i) IC Questionnaire
What do you prefer to be known as?
What? You forgot me already? I'm hurt, thought we had a connection going on. No? [He sighs and play acts a great pout.] Fine. The name's Duo, Duo Maxwell. Try not to forget it this time, alright?
How old are you? I'm still sixteen as far as I know. Dunno for sure. Still don't have a birth certificate or anything.

Do you have any history in combat? I've seen my fair share. You want to see my battle scars? I've got a couple. [He's not taking this questioning seriously since he's done this once already, so he's having fun making a pill of himself. The flirting? Icing on the cake.]
If so, have you ever killed? Still part of the job description. [He shrugs casually and leans back in his chair.] Kinda hard to blow things up and not kill people if you know what I mean.

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? It's better than being bored. At least being in the action gives you an adrenaline rush.

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? I'm more of a spur of the moment kind of guy, but I could make an exception for you.
[Note: It doesn't matter if his interviewer is male or female, they'd get the same responses.]

iii) What role do you take when working in a group? What role do I need to play? I'd like to think I'm a pretty versatile guy.

iv) How talkative are you around other people? We've done this dance twice now. You tell me.

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. A knife, one of those fancy water purifiers that can turn salt-water into freshwater, and you. Sounds like a fun vacation, don't it?

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? The way I see it people will either like you or they won't, but at least it's easier to get by if people don't hate your guts. [By this point he'll be checking to see if his interviewer looks ready to rage quite or not, and if so tone things down a couple notches.]

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? Hell yeah. Better to go down with a fight than with a bullet to the back don't you think? At least if you go down swinging you can take more of them to hell with you.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? Compared to most of the guys I work with yeah, but they're mostly sticks in the mud so that's a no brainer.

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Sometimes you need plans, but planning out everything would just be boring. Where's the excitement of the unknown that way?

x) Do you like surprises? Good ones yeah, could do without the bad ones though.

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? You know, I still want to know why Garden thinks it's any of their damn business. My combat history? Fine whatever, but this?

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? Depends, are my superiors giving me dumb orders? I'll listen as long as they make sense, but I'm not just gonna blindly follow orders if they're clearly wrong or gonna get me killed for no damn reason.

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages? Still not my favorite, but it's better than starving.

Is that cheating?

Here. Have a bonus intro post.

It's been a while. Nice to see the tech's made some improvements since I've been gone. Those old terminals were a pain. This laptop's a piece of junk, but at least I can take it with me.

Heard there's a bunch of new people since I left. Sounds like an excuse to party if you ask me. Anyone got any bright ideas?

While I'm at it there anyone I know left around this joint? You'll be happy to know I didn't go make a fool of myself in the training center this time. Damn dinosaurs.
Duo

[Action]
[It's true. He's not going to go "prove himself" in the training center this time... at least not yet. Not without some magic under his belt anyway maybe a weapon or three at least. Instead he's prowling around pretty much everywhere else trying to see what all's changed since he saw it last. Feel free to bump into him anywhere. He's got his papers in hand so anyone can probably figure out he's new even if they're not familiar with him.]

Can't believe it's been about six months. This time compression stuff is still nuts.
